OnTrac Ranked 12th Fastest Growing Company And Privately Held Company In Arizona

CHANDLER, Ariz., Dec. 11, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — OnTrac, a logistics company specializing in delivery services in the Western United States, received the high honor as the 12th Fastest Growing Company as well as the 12th Ranked Privately Held Company. Both distinctions were part of the annual Arizona Corporate Excellence (ACE) awards put on by the Phoenix Business Journal. The recognition event took place on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at the Scottsdale Center for the Arts. The event brought together the largest private companies in Arizona that together generate revenues of over $15 billion per year, employ over 40,000 employees throughout the state, and over 56,000 employees worldwide.

The ACE awards is a nomination-based program that ranks by 2016 revenue and further company information such as the number of local and companywide employees, a company profile, professional bio for the top local executive and the year that company was founded locally. Based on this information along with company interviews and further research by accounting firm CliftonLarsonAllen, the top private companies list is created. The goal of the ACE awards is to develop a sense of knowledge-sharing and community among private companies in Arizona and provide a means for executives at all levels to expand their professional networks.

In additional to receiving recognition at the 2017 ACE awards, OnTrac has received two additional awards this fall. Transport Topics ranks the 100 largest for-hire carriers in North America, which OnTrac ranked number 5 among the top package/courier carriers and tied for number 56 for all sectors. Companies operating in the United States and Canada are ranked on the basis of annual revenue. Additionally, OnTrac was ranked as 41 at the 2017 Chandler 100 event, which ranks the top 100 business located in Chandler, Arizona.

TPT Increases Tax-dollar Distribution

The first year of full implementation of the Arizona Department of Revenue’s transaction privilege tax simplification is seeing increased tax-dollar distribution back to participating cities, including Apache Junction, according to a press release.

TPT is a gross receipts tax levied on businesses by the state of Arizona for the privilege of conducting business in the state. For the first six months of 2017, ADOR distributed more than $1.4 billion to 91 cities.

On Jan, 1, 14 municipalities, including Apache Junction, Chandler, Mesa, Scottsdale and Tempe, joined 77 Arizona cities under the state TPT collection program. For the first half of 2017, the east Valley cities received the following in TPT distribution:

•Apache Junction – more than $6.3 million, a 3.33 percent increase from the same period in 2016. •Chandler – more than $60 million, a 4.68 percent increase compared to the first six months of 2016. •Mesa – more than $82.6 million, a 3.79 percent increase from what the city collected in 2016. •Scottsdale – more than $101.3 million, a 2.59 percent from the same period in 2016. •Tempe – more than $77.2 million, a 6.59 percent increase compared to the first half of 2016.

“The Arizona Department of Revenue is pleased that after years of working with cities to implement this centralized licensing and reporting framework for thousands of Arizona businesses, transaction privilege tax reform is now fully implemented under Gov. (Doug) Ducey’s administration,” Arizona Department of Revenue Director David Briant said in the release. “TPT is a streamlined and efficient program that enables hundreds of thousands of businesses to register, file returns and make TPT payments via a central portal.”

Under ADOR’s full implementation of TPT simplification, the agency is the single point of administration and collection of state and city taxes for all business, including residential rental owners in the state. Businesses do not have to file two or more TPT returns, one with ADOR and another with the city or cities where the taxable activity occurred. The businesses need to only file one return for all taxing jurisdictions. In addition to collecting TPT payments, ADOR oversees all licensing and administering of TPT, saving participating cities hundreds of staff positions, according to the release.

“The Arizona Department of Revenue is focused on enhanced customer service and as part of the TPT program, we have expanded our education and outreach programs with businesses and program cities to ensure TPT is working the way it should,” Mr. Briant said.

The agency recently established a special phone hotline, 602-716-7368, and dedicated e-mail address, residentialrental@azdor.gov, for residential rental property owners required to have TPT licenses.

Arizona-Based Entrepreneurs Launch E&I Ventures; Focus on Tech Investments, Strategic Counsel To Startups

CHANDLER, Ariz.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Two Arizona-based tech entrepreneurs today announced the launch of a new venture capital firm, E&I Ventures, which will focus on making equity and debt investments in technology businesses in the seed, angel and Series A stages.

Geoffrey Mobisson and Doug Guilbeau are co-founders of Levementum, a successful and rapidly growing Salesforce.com partner focused on Marketing Cloud, CRM, commerce and IoT. Levementum is headquartered in Arizona, with offices in Indianapolis and El Paso.

E&I Ventures is seeking investments in companies that have recently completed a transformational event or proof of concept. The firm will primarily focus on minority investments of $100,000 to $1 million.

Mobisson and Guilbeau, who started Levementum a decade ago, will seek to help tech-based companies commercialize their ideas, with a focus initially on the Southwest and West Coast. Both have a passion for helping promising firms navigate the complex challenges of growth capital, human capital and strategic decision-making.

ClickIPO is already getting significant attention: The company was a winner of the Spring 2017 round of the Arizona Commerce Authority’s Innovation Challenge and besides E&I Ventures, has attracted an investment team that includes former U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft.

E&I has also invested in Los Angeles-based GroundWork, which helps youth sports teams collect automatic electronic payments and streamlines the busy work associated with team fees.

Native Grill & Wings Closes Amid Questions About Why

Native Grill & Wings in Chandler has closed, but has left some confusion why.

Initially, a note taped to its front door blamed the rising cost of business and Arizona’s minimum wage increase.

However, a restaurant spokesman says the real reason it was closed is because of “underperformance.”

Mike Misetic, a spokesman for the Chandler-based chain, said that the note was posted by an “uninformed manager” and that Native supports the wage increase.

International Aerospace Firm Building New HQ In Chandler, Doubling Workforce

Turbo Resources — which provides aeronautical and aerospace parts to international airlines and other customers — is breaking ground on a new global headquarters in Chandler.

Turbo already is based in Chandler but is building a new 247,000-square-foot corporate base including offices and warehouse space.

“We currently have 47 employees and will be growing to around 100 in the next three to five years,” said Turbo CFO Rick Willden.

The new headquarters is off Arizona Avenue and Elliot Road in Chandler. The company and Chandler officials — including Mayor Jay Tibshraeny — will be a at groundbreaking for the new headquarters Friday.

The East Valley and Phoenix have a significant aerospace sector that includes Honeywell Aerospace (NYSE: HON), Boeing Co. (NYSE: BA) and Textron Inc.(NYSE: TXT) owned Able Aerospace Services Inc.

Chandler Industrial Property Sells For $2.2M

NGKF has arranged the sale of a 17,149-square-foot Class A industrial building in Chandler, Ariz. DeMichele Group, a privately owned provider of software and equipment for the fenestration industry, purchased Chandler Airpark’s Building B for $2.2 million. NGKF’s Executive Managing Director Jerry Jacobs and Associate Joe Vale represented the buyer.

“Our growing business required an expansion of space, from 9,000 square feet to 17,149 square feet,” Brian Hefner, owner & president of DeMichele Group, said in prepared remarks.

Located at 2100 South Douglas Drive, the property, developed by Silagi Development & Management, sits on a 6.12 land parcel. The park consists of six industrial buildings on standalone legal parcels with loading docks. Building B features 20-foot-clear height, 886 square feet of office space and 47 parking stalls. Additional features include outside storage yards, truck loading and excellent signage opportunities. The park is located near the Chandler Airport and is close to retail, entertainment and service amenities via Loop 202.

“Opportunities for space have become scarce over the last two years. Prices have gone up and concessions from landlords have tightened. There are limited options for industrial space buyers in this market, so the $130 per square foot purchase is a win-win for both DeMichele Group, which plans to occupy the space by June, and the seller,” Jacobs said in a prepared statement.

According to data provider Yardi Matrix, the park is subject to a $6.5 million construction loan originated by East West Bank.

Chandler Gets New Traffic Cameras

Photo enforcement cameras at a Chandler intersection will start taking pictures of law-breaking drivers on Monday, May 1.

The cameras are at the intersection of McQueen and Queen Creek roads and will only monitor drivers going north or south on McQueen.

While the cameras will be turned on on Monday, violators will only receive a warning during the month of May. On Thursday, June 1, citations will be given to drivers caught speeding or running the red light at the intersection.

With the new cameras, the City of Chandler has a total of 12 intersections that have photo enforcement cameras. The city received the cameras from American Traffic Solutions. All of the cameras monitor for red light runners and speeders.

Five intersections became fully operational on June 20, 2016. Two additional intersections became fully operational on Oct. 1, 2016.

Four more intersections became fully operational on Dec. 1, 2016.

All 12 intersections with photo enforcement cameras in Chandler are listed below.

  • Eastbound Ray Road at Alma School Road
  • Westbound and southbound Warner Road at Alma School Road
  • Westbound Chandler Boulevard at Kyrene Road
  • Southbound and eastbound McClintock Drive at Ray Road
  • Westbound Chandler Boulevard at Dobson Road
  • Westbound and southbound Alma School Road at Queen Creek Road
  • Eastbound Ray Road at Rural Road
  • Southbound Arizona Avenue at Warner Road
  • Southbound Arizona Avenue at Ray Road
  • Southbound Arizona Avenue at Ocotillo Road
  • Southbound and Westbound Dobson Road at Ray Road
  • Southbound and Northbound McQueen Road at Queen Creek Road
